Projects abound with uncertainty -- uncertainty of size and cost, uncertainty of new technology, and often uncertainty in the minds of the customers who commissioned the project. By delivering partial solutions in short time cycles, we can reduce the probability of incorrect solutions. Early feedback enables the customers and the developers to find more and better opportunities for improving the ultimate product.
Iterative delivery allows stakeholders to explore the problem space and discover the most crucial, most beneficial, or the most uncertain slices of the system to be included in the early deliveries. Use of the emerging system gives early business benefit and the opportunity to mold the ultimate solution to be the best fit for the organization.
