UX Coaching: Helping developers become better generalists

A session at 2011 Balanced Team Conference

Sunday 25th September, 2011

2:10pm to 2:30pm (PST)

Agile coaches help teams internalize an agile development philosophy. By demonstrating how a solid understanding of users benefits the whole team, the UX coach's role is to help teams internalize a user-centered design philosophy.

Once UX work becomes central to the way the team functions, the UX coach serves primarily to help the team learn new ways of answering the questions they have about their users. Reframing the role of UX from a single-person specialist job to one where every team member considers users front-and-center means that many of the typical issues that UX people describe just disappear because they are no longer a consideration.
