Cassandra Data Modeling

One of the most popular parts of Cassandra SF 2011 was @mdennis Data Modeling Workshop. When we first solicited suggestions for presentations at the upcoming Cassandra NYC conference, one of the most requested topics was data modeling. Quite a few folks even asked if we could bring Matt to NYC. We asked Matt, and he agreed.

In his workshop, Matt goes beyond the toy examples found in most tutorials. Conference attendees are encouraged to submit their difficult data modeling problems in advance. Matt will pick the selection of the most interesting, with focus on the models demonstrating common pitfalls, and work through them with the audience. The data modeling workshop is free to all attendees of Cassandra NYC.

Matt has been with DataStax since the beginning and currently focuses on high level architecture, design, data models, deployment and algorithms for some of the largest, highest volume and most fault tolerant distributed systems in the world. Prior to DataStax, Matt held various technical leadership and principal development roles at Crossroads Systems and Troux Technologies and even spent time as a System Administrator in a former life. Matt studied Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Engineering respectively
