First released in 2007, Clojure is a Lisp dialect running on the JVM. Clojure's support for functional programming and unified state management simplifies the development of concurrent applications. Clojure is compiled to and interoperates with JVM bytecode, so Clojure applications can be deployed to existing runtimes and directly call existing Java libraries. This session introduces Clojure to the Java programmer, with a focus on building concurrent, distributed, cloud-based applications. The session features a live demo of deploying and operating a Clojure application.
