  • Keynote: User experience. Is there anything else?

    by Tom Uglow

Tom will focus on how pervasive digital has become, how it is no longer a broadcast channel, or a ticket sales outlet, but is expected to be an entire world that has to sit alongside whatever you do in the traditional, physical world. He will stress the importance of being open to experimentation, building, packaging and iteration - identifying your successes and accepting your failures.

    At 9:00am to 9:45am, Wednesday 21st September

  • Keynote: Amongst The Crowd: A brief history of attention and audiences

    by Matt Locke

Using examples from history and his own experience at the BBC and Channel 4, Matt Locke will sketch out how our understanding of audiences has changed, and how the ways we measure them end up affecting the way we create and commission cultural projects.

    At 9:45am to 10:15am, Wednesday 21st September

  • In conversation and questions

by Tom Uglow, Jane Finnis and Matt Locke

    At 10:15am to 10:30am, Wednesday 21st September

  • Getting Real

    by Jane Finnis

Top line findings and implication for the cultural sector from the Action Research Project ‘How to Evaluate Online Success’.

  • ‘Failing Forward’ case studies

by Josephine Chanter, Matthew Cock, Emma McLean, Hugh Wallace, James Morley, Dick Penny and Mia Ridge

It is hard in the public sector to talk about how things haven't worked but no project is a failure if there is good learning. It is important that as a sector we understand that we are on a learning curve and it is steep! Come and listen to the inside story on a variety of projects from which we can all learn useful stuff to make our organisations stronger.

    At 11:30am to 1:00pm, Wednesday 21st September

  • Strategy, tactics and tools

    by Jane Finnis

    At 2:00pm to 2:30pm, Wednesday 21st September

  • Crit Room

by Anra Kennedy, Adam Gee and Fiz Yazdi

Submit your website or online service to the 'Crit Room' in advance, complete with the problem or challenge you face. Our three experts will review all sites in advance and offer live feedback and advice to you in the session. After the panel feedback then it is the turn of the floor to add any other comments or ideas.

We expect each crit session to take approx 10 minutes and the panel will break for one minute between sessions to allow for change over.

    At 2:30pm to 4:30pm, Wednesday 21st September

  • Talk Tables

by Elena Villaespesa, Martha Henson, Rachel Clements, Mia Ridge, Danny Birchall and Loic Tallon

Visit a range of different companies and services operating either analytical tools, research or strategic services. Come and chat, ask questions and discuss how they work and what they can do for you. No sales pitches guaranteed.

Every 10 minutes a bell rings and you move on - like speed dating but without the embarrassment. No time to get bored, just pick up lots of titbits and useful stuff to take home.
