  This presentation will review the benefits and challenges of using an open source XML database in Healthcare applications. Specific focus will be on the use of HL7 3.0 CDA XML formats for patient records and on the use of the eXist open source XML database and XQuery in the management, presentation, analysis and integration of medical data from existing systems.
