Durham implemented Banner in 1998/99, when Gradebook functionality was not available to provide an appropriate assessment solution. This session will cover the solution which Durham developed in lieu of an alternative, and how processes such as resits, capping of marks, progression regulations and exam board discretion have been handled. The session will also look at how the system has been changed over the years in response to the requests of academic departments and changes to the University’s core regulations. Finally, time will be spent detailing why the current system has begun to reach its limits and why the University is beginning to explore alternative solutions.
