A well-designed intranet can provide tremendous value to a company by reducing employee time and effort spent on generating, integrating, managing and retrieving knowledge. We'll cover user research techniques for developing standards needed to "prune" an organic intranet without robbing it of its unique strengths, and provide suggestions on how to handle external obstacles such as lack of management awareness, access to subject matter experts, and recruiting skilled team members. Presented by Sumathi Jayakumar, Tom Suther, Gianna LaPin
The problem with field research is that you never know what you're going to find out. The idea that field research requires 'magic' makes it difficult to sell. This presentation provides a framework for planning and analyzing field research and predicting where insights will come from. It will give novices a head start and help experienced practitioners to be more systematic and thorough.
