HTML5 and CSS3: the easy path to responsive, adaptable, accessible user interfaces

A session at UX Sofia 2011

Thursday 26th May, 2011

9:00am to 1:00pm (EET)

There is a lot of buzz around HTML5 and CSS3, but what can you actually do with them, and what will work across different browsers today? Sure, the technologies sound sexy, but there is no point using them if a large proportion of your user base then can't access your content. So what do we do?

This workshop will give you a real world picture of the most interesting and well supported HTML5 and CSS3 features, and how to create a web site that rocks, but will still be accessible to older browsers, mobile users, and people with disabilities.
The topics that will be covered include:
- HTML5 semantic elements
- HTML5 forms
- CSS3 for easier bling and more responsive UIs
- Cross-browser videos with Flash fallbacks
- Mobile optimized layouts
- Appcache for working offline
