The Mobile Video Crunch

A session at 4G Wireless Evolution

Thursday 2nd February, 2012

2:00pm to 2:45pm (EST)

Few mobile customers are watching video on their devices at any given time, but those customers who are, are consuming massive amounts of capacity. The capabilities of LTE offer some relief but can’t solve the problem long term. One option is to offload mobile video traffic using Integrated Mobile Broadcast IMB or evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services. These technologies can mitigate video traffic overload while providing other onetomany services like malware updates and emergency alerts that could become competitive differentiators. This session identifies key issues affecting the global market for these technologies and the ways operators could use them to solve their one to many service delivery problems.
