Archtober Building of the Day: Via Verde - The Green Way

10 October 2012 from 12pm to 1pm

Currently in read only mode, sorry about that, please try again in a few hours.

Via Verde is a new affordable, sustainable mixed-use residential development providing for healthy, urban living in the South Bronx that reflects a public commitment to create the next generation of social housing. 222 apartments in three distinct building types—a 20-story tower, a 6- to 13-story mid-rise, and 2- to 4-story townhouses— are arranged around a series of gardens beginning as a ground level courtyard and spiraling upwards through a series of south-facing roof gardens. The complex is on track to achieve LEED NC Gold certification.

The tour will be led by Venesa Alicea, AIA, LEED AP, of Dattner Architects and Robert Garneau, AIA, of Grimshaw.

Reservations must be made in advance.
