Teaching Little Geeks

A session at CodePaLOUsa 2012

Friday 16th March, 2012

5:00pm to 6:00pm (EST)

It’s not news to anyone that Computer Science majors are decreasing and have been for years now. I am attempting to single handedly conquer this issue by using Randy Pausch’s Storytelling ALICE and ALICE programs to teach children the concepts, joys and frustrations of programming. In this session I will discuss the problem, review the products and how I use them to teach children. I will also demonstrate work from children in my classes and answer any questions you may have on how to start a similar project. Whether you will be teaching hundreds or your own children, this session is an excellent start.
