  • Hubot IMG Me Woman Laughing Alone with Salad

    by Jon Hoyt

Having your very own robot butler is finally possible! HUBOT from GitHub is an easy to setup and highly extensible automation assistant for your everyday needs. Use HUBOT to order food, grab directions, deploy code, and even open the door! Sure, he may take over the world someday, but in the meantime we might as well have some fun.

Hubot is written in coffeescript on Node.js and easily runs on Heroku and connects to many communication platforms including Campfire, HipChat, any XMPP server, and Twitter.

  • Keynote - Stories From a Music-Fueled Distributed Streaming Bender

    by Zach Holman

So we built an employee-driven, geographically-distributed, multi-client, HTML5-based, API-centric, bathroom-enabled, buzzword-embracing music server for the GitHub offices. It's been a fun project to explore company culture, CSS frameworks, JavaScript methodologies, native clients, outside contributions, and to discover who gets really angry when Garth Brooks starts singing on the speakers. It's one of those projects that ended up far more nutty than the original idea. Come steal some ideas for your own projects.

    At 4:30pm to 5:15pm, Saturday 21st April

In Auditorium, The Mermaid Conference Centre
