  • PixelPin "Pictures replace Passwords"

    by Brian Taylor

If you have ever had problems in remembering your password you will know how annoying it can be. PixelPin is an innovative new approach to mobile and web security using pictures instead of alphanumeric passwords. Questions answered : Rather than type in a password you select points (passpoints) on a personal picture. The PixelPin approach makes remembering a lot easier, it's more secure than using a PIN or an alphanumeric password, and eliminates phishing. There are real advantages when you are on a mobile or tablet device that does not have a keyboard. It's a lot quicker and does not suffer from the auto-correct problems you can find on these devices.

  • Digital Identities

    by Keiichi Matsuda

Keiichi Matsuda & James Alliban will talk about digital identities and will present C E L L and interactive interactive installation commissioned for Alpha-ville Festival 2011. This interactive installation plays with and proposes alternative landscapes in the technological ether surrounding our everyday movements. As our identities become deliberately constructed and broadcast commodities, our projected personae increasingly enmesh and define us. Cell acts as a virtual mirror, displaying a constructed fictional persona in place of our physical form. Composed from keyword tags mined from online profiles, these second selves stalk our movements through space, building in size and density over time. The resulting forms are alternate, technologically refracted manifestations of the body, revealing the digital aura while simultaneously allowing us escape from our own constructed identities.

  • How European Startups are changing the face of Ecommerce

    by Scott Phillips

Can be a stand alone or panel. Would love to discuss how the rise of social discovery tools coupled with subscription models and personalization of ecommerce sites are changing how we discover and purchase items online. From crowd sourcing, to social discovery, gaming, quizes, and subscription services, ecommerce firms across europe are changing the way we discover, interact and purchase items online. Stylist Pick, Graze and Rise Art are some examples of European ecommerce businesses which enable people to discover new products through social discovery, and trial new products and services in a low cost subscription model that encourages sampling of new products or services. I'd be happy to introduce Rise Art and how we are helping people discover, connect with and purchase artwork directly from talented rising artists in a risk-free environment. I'd also be happy to organize a panel with other founders of innovative ecommerce businesses including those listed above. See video below for an introduction to Riseart.com

    Questions answered :
    1. How subscription businesses are building competitive businesses in crowded spaces. 2. How social discovery and social commerce are changing buyer behaviour online 3. What new models companies are using to build sustainable e-commerce businesses

  • Bridging the physical and virtual worlds, thanks to the mobile contactless technologies

    by Damaris Homo

Who has never given up on looking for specific information on the internet because it took too long to find out? Even if we know that the information is available somewhere, it's often tough to find it at the very moment we need it, and most of all in a mobility context. With contactless technologies, a new area of services is possible, using NFC tags and mobile phones: by simply tapping a tag that can be displayed everywhere (street furniture, bus stops, store's window...), users get access to the specific content they want in the right time and at the right place they need it. Connecthings NFC software platform is licensed to any customers who want to bridge their physical world - POS, cities, museum, home - to digital contextual services using mobile phones' screen and connectivity. The session presents how transport companies, museums, brands, who seek to deliver contextual and profile-based information to their audience, can make it happen by creating easy access to their services through the implementation of NFC tags. Questions answered : How to deliver the right information, at the right place in the right time to the right audience? How to turn traditional and day-to-day life objects into something interactive and innovative to engage the audience? How to make cities smarter thanks to digital tools such as NFC tags?

Pervasive computing has been a 'thing' for a long time now, and since Minority Report we have all been obsessed and repelled by the potential of digital technology to step out of the box on your desk and into the real world. The technology associated with mobile devices now has put the possibility of this type of communication into the hands of many, but what practically can we do, how do we do it and what is the consumer reaction to it? We will show inspirational case histories from our clients and the wider industry, some real world examples and run through a simple process for creation and realisation.

    Questions answered :
Great examples to inspire you. A simple process for delivering programs. Managing innovation in marketing agencies. Practical opportunities you can use today and tomorrow.

  • Enabling Digital Shoreditch

    by Dan Sutherland

Over the past several months three Tech City organisations, Carrenza, Optimity and euNetworks, have been working in partnership to deliver the Intelligent Buildings programme to the City, delivering on-demand connectivity and compute resource over the LAN. In doing this we identified this also fits well for Digital Shoreditch, offering an ideal solution to addressing some of the major connectivity issues in the area, and in turn is ideal to support rapid growth. As a result we have formed The Shoreditch Network, a unique initiative from three likeminded organisations with the aim of providing the area with on-demand access to the latest technology, and therefore enabling Tech City in the 21st century. The Shoreditch Network initiative will also see the companies involved partner with local educational organisations, through offering internships and apprenticeships in their businesses to help drive the scheme. This talk, delivered by the CEO and owner of Carrenza, will discuss what we are doing and the benefits this will offer to organisations in Digital Shoreditch: * Reduced cost for IT * Flexible and cost effective - you can select the exact mix of services you require * Better focus of capital expenditure on those things that offer strategic value to your business * Eradicates the need for a server room in your office or an external data centre Questions answered : * What is The Shoreditch Network? * How does this improve the Shoreditch community? * How does this benefit the organisations in the community? * How can organisations better use technology to increase efficiencies and lower overheads?
