Designing for an Older Audience

A session at Design by Fire Café #015

Monday 19th March, 2012

8:00pm to 9:00pm (AMT)

Playful learning to deal with a computer, for your own health care, to strengthen your social network and to keep a board horizon. These were the objectives of the concept: "Vitamin P - a puzzle a day keeps the doctor away". A puzzle community for the elderly, where they can play a game each day, meet each other, train their (decaying) cognition and get a grip on their own wellbeing.

Since 2000, Laika makes easy to use and accessible educational games for clients. By developing and publishing its own game concept, Laika aimed to advance its competences. Since the start six years ago, many lessons have been learned.

The older target group was an ideal group to design for. In this presentation, Ellis will illustrate how this has led to a product that appeals to many people outside the target group also.
