On Monday 21 May 2012 IxDA Nederland organizes the 17th edition of Design by Fire Café. Design by Fire Café is an informal gathering for (interaction) designers.
MORE THAN A BOOK
"Create a book, that you want to show to everyone, but will never give away, because it means so much to you." That was the ambition in the summer of 2011 when 31Volts began the project for KLM that resulted in "no two days are the same."
The design challenge was to capture the personal stories of KLM employees who experience something unique with passengers every day. These stories give form to the culture of an organization. The kind of stories you will always remember and want to share, because they affect you.
The creation of the book became special process. Partly because an important part of the book was created by the KLM staff. And partly because publishing a book is not a core activity of a service design agency.
In this edition of Design by Fire Café Marc Fonteijn tells about the making of the book, about the challenges in the process and about the responses after the launch.
