The move to federated platforms, multiple devices, open data and the "web of things" has created the perfect storm. How do you get a single view of the end user or customer across multiple devices and services? Subjects like Social Media or Gamification happen in isolation and cause further silo-ification of the end customer. Pinterest is an example of a disruptive technology that has caused a lot of eCommerce companies to lose out while others take advantage. We can learn a lot from Pinterest to be better prepared and manage changing end user expectations. Having a consolidated view of the end user/customer experience in a multi-channel system is more critical than ever.
