The twenty first century student demands more from universities in terms of an engagement that is flexible, accessible and immediate. With the use of social media increasing as a routine communication tool, there has been a focus on how Higher Education can adopt and utilise these tools to support student learning. In pursuit of engagement with students, using social media, we have investigated whether there is an opportunity which would not result in a ‘get out of Myspace’.
The aim of this workshop is to present a concept of ‘middle ground’ where parties engage using a simple, cost effective and easily accessible communication tool currently employed by Glasgow Caledonian University called ‘Education Done Differently’ or EDD.
