The work on Symfony2 started more than 5 years ago, but the framework has been available since last year. Discover the story of Symfony2, the lessons learned, and why some Open-Source projects like eZ Publish have chosen Symfony2 for their next version.
Fabien Potencier discovered the Web in 1994, at a time when connecting to the Internet was still associated with the harmful strident sounds of a modem. Being a developer by passion, he started to build websites with
PHP5 in 2004 and created the Symfony framework to help SensioLabs, his company, leverage the power of PHP for its customers.
Fabien is also the creator of other Open-Source projects, a writer, a blogger, a speaker at international conferences, and a happy father of two wonderful kids.

The web brings a whole new set of challenges to the traditional print business model. Implementation of an effective web presence can create new value for existing readers and create new subscribers in the process. Over the past 2 years, Blend Interactive has worked with the faith-based publishing arm of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, to create a new web presence and bring more than 120 years of archived content online in an unprecedented merger of print and the web.
In this talk, I'll give some background on the project, and discuss the process for bringing 250,000+ articles from print to eZ Publish Enterprise. I'll discuss some of the business drivers behind the project, and touch on some of the challenges that affect very large projects, and how the Blend team managed these challenges.
