City Directories and How to Really Use Them

A session at Houston Family History Expo 2012

  • David "Dae" Powell

Friday 6th April, 2012

4:50pm to 5:40pm (CST)

For over 200 years, city directories have existed. New York even has county/burrough directories. Originally, they only listed the prominent community members, followed by their services: the blacksmith, the cobbler, the barrister, etc. Speaker, David "Dae" Powell, will show you how to use these valuable books yourself!

Trained in research and analysis, Dae finds those skills paramount in genealogy. He has extensive experience in Portuguese, Hebrew and German, and some Spanish. He has learned to look at data from many perspectives, while his education in history has whetted his appetite for the best parts of genealogy — the stories of our ancestors!
