On Magic Numbers and Endless Love

A session at How to Web 2012

Wednesday 7th November, 2012

4:00pm to 4:30pm (BMT)

  • Stephanie will be holding the talk together with Timo Dries. * There is a lot of buzz around metrics driven design, conversion funnels and a/b testing. You have certainly heard of it. But Numbers do not substitute a good design in the first place, and making the right decisions in the evolution of a game (or any product) is still not a trivial task. Knowing which numbers to measure and how to improve them is a beautiful challenge. Drawing from the learnings across two wooga games (both on Facebook and Mobile), Stephanie and Timo will show that certain magic numbers have a dramatic impact on their games - and that you shouldn't bother to measure everything. By showing a set feature examples they will share how wooga manages to retain their users over very long periods of time. Besides metrics, they will speak about the wooga way of adding a little love to their products, how their company culture influences their decision making, and by that the quality of their products. wooga's most important metric: the DSU - the Daily Smiling User.
