Portsmouth University

A session at KTP Showcase

  • Sarah Mills
  • Dr Tammi Sinha

Speaker: Sarah Miles (was KTP Associate, now employed by JS Humidifiers and Dr Tammi Sinha (KB Supervisor, University of Portsmouth Business School).

Project Summary: The original project aim was to develop and implement a framework/methodology (using activity based costing and process improvement) to improve the profitability of current and future business activities/opportunities of J S Humidifiers. During the project J S Humidifiers have seen sales rise 20% with no change in staff levels. Profit has almost doubled due to the efficiency methods put in place. Overall JS Humidifiers are now better set up for potential challenges than when the project began and have identified areas for growth with energy saving products despite the economic conditions.

Company Partner: JS Humidifiers is a successful SME based in Sussex and is a UK market leader in the field of humidification and related technologies. The company designs bespoke humidifer solutions as well as off the shelf units along with servicing and spares. The company is also developing growing export markets for its humidification equipment, currently operating in 80 countries across the globe. In April 2011 JS Humidifiers became a member of the Walter Meier Group, the international climate and manufacturing technology group.
