Jonathan Wall, Deputy Controller BBC Radio 5 Live

Jonathan Wall is Deputy Controller and Commissioning Editor of 5 live and 5 Live sports extra and has been in the 5 Live management team since 2008. He oversees the day-to-day running and scheduling of the station, and commissions news, sport and entertainment programmes from independent production companies.

He has also been part of the management team migrating 5 Live to its new home at MediaCity UK, in Salford Quays where the station started broadcasting from in September 2011.

Previously he was editor in BBC Radio sport where he was responsible for overseeing flagship 5 Live output such as the Olympics, Wimbledon, 5 live sport and the football World Cup in Germany and Japan/S Korea.

Jonathan has been at the BBC since 1994. His first job was as a presenter at BBC Radio Humberside, where he also hosted Rugby League phone-ins. He has also been a researcher on Match Of The Day and Grandstand, before joining Radio 5 Live as a producer in 1998.
