Jean Arrington, Snyder scholar, will take you to the Brooklyn neighborhood of Brownsville to see the Snyder Public Schools of the early 20th century. In what was Brooklyn's equivalent of the Lower East Side, we'll walk the streets Alfred Kazin did as a boy, looking at four public schools built between 1901 and 1914 to provide enough "sittings" for the burgeoning population
