Tagger Cloud

A session at MCN 2012

Thursday 8th November, 2012

4:30pm to 5:00pm (PST)

Your Paintings Tagger () is probably the world's most advanced, sophisticated and ambitious interface ever devised to tag and classify works of art in the public realm, combining crowd-sourcing techniques, statistical analysis and an experts network on a massive scale. The system is designed to help creating rich meta-data for over 200,000 paintings, which have been photographed and catalogued by the Public Catalogue Foundation. These are the entire set of oil paintings in public hands in the United Kingdom and involve over 3,000 collections, from the likes of Tate and National Gallery to smaller organisations, such as regional hospital and police stations.
