Chris discusses prototyping web-connected embedded designs using the 3G network and using HTML5 Websockets to transmit real-time sensor data to a rich web interface. He’ll demonstrate how to build applications with the mbed Microcontroller, online browser-based C/C++ compiler and APIs - including live coding and compilation!
Ashley will discuss applying the mbed + 3G platform, and provide an informative teardown of two 3G-connected prototypes:
i) Question Mark: a 3G plug-and-play feedback endpoint for ad-hoc events. Built from a receipt printer, mbed microcontroller, and a 3G dongle.
ii) VGANode: a 3G connected VGA camera that uploads images to the cloud. Built from a jpeg camera, mbed microcontroller, 3G dongle, and a node.js server.
He’ll describe prototyping the designs, technologies and APIs used.
Exclusive Technology Preview
------------------------------------
At OTA we will be previewing libraries for interfacing the mbed Microcontroller to the Vodafone K3770 USB 3G Dongle, and we are looking for beta testers before official public release. To find out more, and register your interest visit http://mbed.org/vodafone
Come Hack With Us
-----------------------
We'll be bringing along a bunch of mbeds, sensors, servos and stuff to develop your own project with. We'll have a number of hackstations setup for the entire event, so drop by to get developing! #mbedatOTA12
Question Mark?
-----------------
Throughout the show and the talks, we'll have our SMS printer setup so you can ask questions and give feedback. SMS: 07554 351934
