Dogs & Dice. Notes on a Visual Thesaurus

A session at Illustration: Making Pictures

Martin O’Neill has been working as a collage Artist and Illustrator since 1995 and in that time has amassed a vast archive of found images, type, textures and ephemera. This collection is housed in his studio in a mismatched series of filing cabinets, drawers, shoeboxes and paper bags. His talk will wander through his working process as he explores the chance relationships and hidden meanings that lie within this improvised, organic filing system.

Martin O’Neill is a UK based graphic artist and illustrator who creates unique hand made collages for a diverse range of International clients encompassing advertising, design, editorial and book publishing, as well as regular contributions to the UK and US press. His work evolves from a subtle alchemy of collage, silkscreen, photography, paint, and digital techniques. Fifteen years of experimental image-making has resulted in his unique and instantly recognisable brand of illustration. www.cutitout.co.uk
