Service Design Thinks Leeds - date tbc
Service Design Leeds is a networking group of service design practitioners, educators, students and influencers all interested in how we make services for customers better. We invite people from all sectors and service contexts to create a rich diversity of thinking and therefore learning. We started just over two years ago in a local pub and have now grown to a regular group that meet with six evening events a year, combining Thinks and Drinks.
Our Thinks events are an opportunity for the group to hear speakers bring fresh/new thinking on Service Design for us to explore different applications of the thinking and see how different companies and projects get the best out of Service Design and and related disciplines when designing Services.
Previous Thinks events have included: Patient Opinion, Leeds City Council, Orange UK, Snook, Lancaster Innovation Group, DriveGain, Live|Work and Cisco. Each have engaged the group in some great new learning and helped provoke some lively discussion. Subjects covered have ranged from services in Hospitals, Public Sectors, Telecommunications, Digital Health to Digital Innovation in Retail.
The SD Leeds audience is very open group and has a central group of 30 regulars and a further group of about 70 people attending so far. Attendees come from Leeds, the surrounding area, and from as far as Sheffield, Derby and Manchester.
We are particularly interested in larger scale service design challenges where a full end to end service experience includes multiple touchpoints and challenges the UX audience among us to stretch a gear up to systems and multiple services working in synergy alongside each other. We would like to theme our events this year, to enable us to approach particular new audiences, to discover service design and what it can offer. Having covered a good range of public service delivery we are particularly interested in the larger corporate experience and the more commercial high street angle.
This coming year our Thinks Events are on the following dates:
* November/December 2012 - date tbc
* 12 or 26 February 2013 (tbc depending on Global Service Jam timings)
* 11 June 2013
