Improving the Performance of .NET Applications

A session at SELA Developer Practice - November 2012

Wednesday 21st November, 2012

9:00am to 5:00pm (JMT)

Performance is increasingly important in the era of laptop and tablet computers, which have limited hardware resources and make every effort to conserve power, but is critical for server systems with minimal TCO. In this full-day session we'll measure the performance of .NET applications using CPU, allocation, and memory usage profilers, file monitoring tools, and manual benchmarks. We'll see how cache misses and page faults can affect application performance and how to measure these effects in your code. Finally, we'll conclude with a practical performance measurement lab.
