After a multi-decade snooze that only the comfort of a near-monopoly can provide, Microsoft awoke to a world was evolving toward an iPad-like experience: multi-touch, full-screen, sandboxed applications that consume little or no power when then are not running. Frantically, they did an inventory: “OO language? C#! IDE? Visual Studio! Runtime? Runtime!?” And thus The Windows Runtime (WinRT) was born. In this talk, we will compare iOS and WinRT from a programmers point of view.
