With the increase in smartphones and tablets, consumers are looking for new ways to safely make virtual purchases and delete any tedious steps from their checkout. One such way merchants are making it easier for consumers to make purchases is by using alternative payment methods like direct carrier billing, NFC and stored value cards to complete hassle-free transactions.
Alternative payments have already proven to increase consumer revenue by making it easier for consumers to securely purchase virtual goods, but a winning method has yet to emerge. Currently, there is a battle as to which payment method will gain widespread consumer acceptance and lead the charge for mobile payments in 2012.
Madhura Belani can provide insight into the leading alternative payment methods and how they can help merchants increase revenue by providing safe and efficient mobile and online shopping experiences with the convenience and security of one-click purchasing that does not have to be tied to a bank account or credit line.
When online gaming giant Nexon adapted the alternative payment of direct carrier billing, it saw an increase of twice the average revenue per user from carrier billing users compared to other payment methods. Of the consumers using direct carrier billing to pay for virtual goods on Nexon, 40 percent were new paying customers.
Madhura will touch on the alternative payments that have already been accepted by consumers and which ones will draw a new wave of smartphone and tablet users. She also will provide insight on how alternative payments drive the growth of mobile commerce by providing consumers with easy methods to securely make virtual purchases.
