SharePoint 2010 Feature and Solution Development With Visual Studio 2010
Visual Studio 2010, when installed in the same environment as SharePoint 2010, provides a broad set of project type templates for creating SharePoint assets (sites, site elements, etc.), more so than SharePoint 2007. Upon creation of a SharePoint Project, Visual Studio 2010 automatically creates the necessary Feature and Package nodes, facilitating the creation of a SharePoint Feature and Solution Package. Today's discussion (and walkthrough) will show a few different scenarios of creating a SharePoint 2010 Project containing some site elements, and how Visual Studio 2010 has made Feature and Package creation a much simpler process.

Using SPMetal for faster SharePoint development
This session will cover the ins and outs of SPMetal, a tool which ships with SharePoint 2010. SPMetal allows developers compile-time access to SharePoint lists and content types. This allows for type-safe access to columns/fields on a SharePoint site. Additionally, developers can write LINQ queries against these lists using SPMetal which speeds up query writing tremendously for developers. We will additionally cover adding support for complex column types (Managed Metadata, Publishing HTML, etc) which aren’t support by SPMetal out of the box. How an Internal Corporate SPUG (SharePoint User Group) increases user adoption and best practices
Bank of America has the largest corporate SharePoint implementation with over 24,000 SharePoint sites and over 200,000 users. One of the reasons for our high rate of user adoption is our internal SPUG. We hold three weekly meetings (Basic, Advanced, and Designer) run by volunteer power users. Our SPUG hosts a Q&A discussion forum, Knowledge base, and web part library and provides mentoring, tips and tricks, and best practices.

Lasso Far-Reaching Data With SPSiteDataQuery

Performance Check on SP Farm – Perf Mon using PowerShell
Microsoft’s Performance Monitor application makes a wealth of information about the components on the servers. In order to properly diagnose and troubleshoot SharePoint performance problems, SharePoint Admin often depends on a performance monitor (perfmon) log during problem period. Choosing or picking different sets of Performance Counters for SharePoint Servers are sometime cucumbersome and time comsuming. Also few client do not allow to log-in to Production Servers directly. Using Powershell we can achive all the possible scenario and can make re-usable script.
