The Asian Century: Painting A Clear Pan Asian Picture To Help Stabilise Your Strategy

A session at 15th Annual Asian Shared Services and Outsourcing Week

Wednesday 5th September, 2012

4:30pm to 5:15pm (SMT)

Diverse. Contrasting. Complex. All are words used to describe how organisations, whether Eastern or Western, find doing business in multiple Asian countries simultaneously – and the challenges also ring true in the SS&O industry. Whether a strengthening Thai family holding looking to outsource into the established hub of Manila, a Singaporean MNC ready to open a 4th centre and propel into the emerging market of South Korea, or a globally-renowned US brand trying to crack China, understanding the economic, political, demographic and cultural nuances are of paramount importance to any successful Pan-Asian strategy. By 2016, Asia will catch up in size with the US. By 2020, it will be 17% larger than the US economy. In a rapidly changing environment, understanding what’s on the horizon will help you shape and stress-test your future shared services plans:

•The Shifting Balance Of Power: Reworking current strategies to take into account the changing face of East/West relations, including security, governance and legal concerns
•Regional economic and political disparity: Taking the uneven development of Asia into account and the consequences for your SSO strategy in the short and long term
•Understanding contrasting demographic distinctions and incorporating them into your strategic growth and services support strategy, with particular reference to the talent issue
•Pan-Asian integration: The challenges and progress when it comes to harmonising systems, infrastructure and institutions over multiple and diverse jurisdictions
