  • Play Werewolf (Game) Like a Mother Killing Pro

    by Todd Sawicki

Werewolf, a variation of the Mafia game, is spreading like wildfire in the tech social circles. We've hosted overnight games in secret in the past at SXSW, but this time, we want to get more people involved. The game is the great equalizer. Though deceit, honesty, and raw powers of reasoning, you can get to know amazing people and build great friendships. This panel with long-time Werewolf players will teach you the basic rules, the best practices (yes, there are best practices even for a game), and how to host the game yourself. Come to SXSWi and leave with an amazing tool to build great experiences forever. Trust me, I'm a villager.

  • And I Am NOT Lying at SXSW: From Basement Burlesque to the Boardroom

Storytelling is both the second-oldest art form and a hot "new" form of entertainment — thanks to This American Life, The Moth's podcast and live shows, and tons of shows cropping up around the country, storytelling's making a big comeback. It's making a comeback in the boardroom, too. And if we are honest with ourselves, it's just about to join "leverage" in the marketing d-bag's haggard sack of buzzwords. "Leverage storytelling to activate your customers," "learn story techniques," — you're going to hear a LOT of that at SXSW this year.

You know what you're not going to hear anyone else talk about?

"What makes a great story?" or "How would I know a good story?"

Good stories are a little like good porn: you know ‘em when you see ‘em. But we're going to peel that hood back together and examine what makes a story good — and how to amplify and condense that.

Join an interactive discussion with storytelling experts from across a wide range of disciplines – from NPR's This American Life, NYC storytelling show producers and accomplished solo performers with The Moth, Story Collider, TOLD!, Real Characters, And I Am Not Lying and other shows, as well as an expert in organizational narrative – and hack through the marketing hype to find out what really makes a good story.

  • I Need a Place to Sleep Meet Up

    by Regina Twine

All you needed was a place to rest your weary head after a long day of panels and parties. This year it may have taken a bit longer than normal to find that place. How can we help SX, the residents of Austin and businesses prepare better for the onslaught of people descending on their town for the conference? More hotels? Less badges? More campsites? Come discuss the troubles you had trying to find a place to sleep and lets brainstorm some solutions.

Discover how letting go actually provides you with great control in seemingly crazy situations (applicable to daily life, guaranteed). Coached by Eliza Skinner.

  • #SXsingle Meet Up

    by Kathryn Irwin

    #SXsingle, it's not just a hashtag, it's a lifestyle.

Over the years, the term "what happens at South By, stays at South By" has become part of the vernacular for veteran attendees. In some instances, this means exactly as it sounds. However, many matches have been made at SXSW, including marriages, babies, long term relationships, and of course numerous hook ups.

Come join other #SXsingle(s) or those who once were and want to relive their glory days at SXSW! We'll trade stories, laughs and maybe even some digits!
