MANCHESTER'S LATEST SCIENCE STAR
Helen Czerski is a bubble physicist and oceanographer. She is based at Southampton University where she researches the key role that the bubble plays as an interface layer between the sea and the sky.
In addition to her bubble physics research Helen has quickly become known as one of the UK’s best science communicators. This culminated recently in her prime-time debut as co-presenter on BBC Two’s Orbit: Earth’s Extraordinary Journey. The Telegraph wrote afterwards, “The BBC has finally found the female face of science television.” Nice!
Originally from Manchester, these days you’ll just as likely find Helen on a research vessel on a faraway ocean as you will at her lab in Southampton. Checkout the excellent Guardian blog she kept regarding her most recent trip to the Southern Ocean which surrounds Antarctica.
