Discuss changing technology in the mobile environment. uMobile was originally developed to use Titanium Studio by Appcelerator, although there is discussion of uMobile using PhoneGap and being purely native for both Android and iOS. Discuss new mobile environments such as Windows 8, Ubuntu, Firefox OS, and Blackberry 10.
Also discussion on future portlet development using DAOs and JSON feeds that could be used for both uMobile apps (having native portlet views) and uPortal portlets.
Dave Derderian is currently a student at Oakland University working towards a degree in Computer Science. He is the Lead Student Developer at Oakland University working on uPortal, portlet and mobile development. He has created custom portlets for Oakland University and assisted in incorporating the Progress To Degree and Courses portlet into their portal system. His main programming background is in Java, Android and Web development.
Skye Schneider is a student employee at Oakland University. He is working towards his Bachelor?s in Computer Science. He is currently part of the Database Applications Team and works on uPortal portlet development and Android Mobile development. Skye was designer and programmer for the native Android Application for Oakland University. His background in programming includes Java, C/C#, Visual Basic.
Brandon Powell is a student employee at Oakland University. He has his Associates Degree in Computer Science from Macomb Community College. Currently he is going for his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science at Oakland University. He currently works on the Database Applications Team doing uPortal scripting and mobile development. Brandon was the lead designer and programmer of the native Android Application for Oakland University. His background is in C/C++, Java, and Python.
