The last several quarters have brought us game-changing new innovations for bringing content from your SIS and LMS into uPortal. Many of these focus on the Courses portlet, but the Calendar, Map, and Notification portlets also play an important role.
We will look at the cool new advances that are available now, and some that are under development. We will hear about or directly from several schools working with these technologies and the methods they've found to be effective in this area.
Lakshmi Maktala works with Aaron Grant in managing Academic Portal and Applications Development team at the Oakland University. MySail Portal has been the Single Sign on enterprise portal since three years now, and it serves over 20,000 active users with heavy usage based on our statistics and reports.
Portal Applications at Oakland University has raised to new heights with so many more capabilities from the time we have been using uPortal, uMobile, Mobile apps, many more customized Portlets with help of Aaron Grant and by our student portal team.
Lakshmi Maktala has been working for Oakland University for thirteen years, she has been in several projects assisting University Technology Services. Lakshmi Maktala holds a M.S. in Computer Science from Oakland University and also serves as Adjunct faculty at School of Computer Science and Engineering teaching Interactive Web programming.
Drew is a Software Architect and the Lead Engineer for uPortal Cooperative Support at Unicon: a leading provider of IT services for Education, specializing in open source. He is a passionate advocate for open source, and a long-standing contributor on several Apereo (formerly Jasig) projects including uPortal, SSP, PersonDirectory, ResourceServer, and most Jasig portlets. Within Apereo, Drew currently serves on the uPortal Steering Committee, the 2013 Conference Planning Committee, and as the Lead Engineer for the Email Preview and Notifications portlets. Drew is an experienced workshop leader and a frequent presenter at conferences.
