Creating a production environment that can support the volume of users your service will experience can be challenging on a single host. But how do you set this up on a shoe-string budget? Or how do you configure an appliance like Big IP's F5 solution? This session will cover how UC Merced started with Apache for load-balancing then switched over to F5 for both uPortal and Sakai CLE. We will cover nuts and bolts of how we configured each. As a bonus, we will share our current efforts to load balance CAS.
UC Merced has used CAS, uPortal and Sakai CLE since our first term in 2005. I have been the lead developer on all these services at some point and now manage all three services.
