9:45am to 10:30am
This session will show how to create a virtual classroom environment that makes the student feel at home but does not require a mortgage to finance it. This presentation will describe a virtual classroom environment (VCE) using photos, graphics and rich media content that mimics an environment similar to a class in a face to face campus and much, much more. Different aspects of the course are represented by rooms in the VCE; group projects are in the Group Room. Assistance throughout the course comes from video testimonials from previous students. There are numerous paths of navigation including an interactive map of the environment. Multimedia presentations by the faculty provide a dynamic presence of the faculty in the course. Data collection from several past years and the current version will be shared the show good promise for this format of course offerings in the future.
