QA (Quality Assurance) testing is important and should be a priority, if it isn't already, for every institution using Sakai CLE, Sakai OAE, and any other Apereo project wishing to have a sustainable future and happy users in the present. By helping to test projects before your institution deploys them in production you get to have confidence that your local needs will be met by the product and create visibility on bugs and issues that are important to your institution and therefore more likely to get attention from the developer community. QA testing is one of those rare activities that throwing more people at it makes it better. It means less work per person to insure a quality product, and a greater number of eyeballs and approaches to testing. Plus, breaking things is fun! Come join in a discussion to share what works, what we can do better and how to attract more institutions and people to be committed to make QA a success.
CLE Community Coordinator
The CLE Coordinator ensures the continued high quality and timeliness of Sakai CLE releases, on a schedule that is appropriate for institutions depending on the CLE worldwide. The CLE Coordinator is the community liaison by being a central community contact and through facilitation between groups.
Neal has a software development background, is a PMP certified project manager through the international PMI group and has a dozen years experience in technology in education, and more years experience with technology broadly.
Quality Assurance Specialist
While completing her degree in Computer and Information Technology at IUPUI in 2009, Andrea Schmidt took a position as a part time quality assurance specialist for Oncourse, Indiana University's version of Sakai CLE. Gradually her duties were expanded and she now works full-time for University Information Technology Services (UITS) at IU. As the functional testing lead for Oncourse, her responsibilities include writing test cases, writing Selenium scripts, creating sample data for testing, coordinating the QA contributions of instructional technology consultants in the teaching centers, and contributing to the QA group in the Sakai Community.
