Voice and Tone: Creating Content for Humans

​Serving your readers should be the priority of your company’s web content. This session will focus on articulating your brand’s personality and writing for emotional humans. Kate will share real-life examples of empathetic (and not so empathetic) writing, and explain how MailChimp created its interactive style guide, VoiceandTone.com. We’ll talk about the importance of establishing voice guidelines that don’t hinder your writers’ creativity or insult their intelligence, while still making corporate writing fun. We’ll also talk about how a company’s culture influences its voice and tone.
