Security Discussion

A session at Copenhagen Ruby Brigade, Febuary 2013

With the recent security issues in Rails, Rack and other associated gems, security issues are becoming a focus in the Ruby community. I will moderate a discussion about security issues in Ruby, Rails and associated infrastructure.

Some potential talking points:

  • Security layers (application, service, server, network, workstation, etc.)
  • Web application security issues
  • Library (gem) evaluation
  • Code analysis (brakeman, code climate's new service)
  • Threat assessment (Can we rely on "security through obscurity"? "Yes, I know this is not secure, but nobody is trying to hack me")
