Testing is important - even more so in the Android world where developers face a plethora of OS versions, screen factors and devices. As developers, we want our unit tests to run as fast as possible to ensure quick turn arounds and achieve a high test coverage. Unfortunately, running unit tests on the Android emulator or real devices tends to be slow and cumbersome.
Robolectric helps to solve this problem by allowing you to run your unit tests inside the IDE without ever having to deploy to the emulator or a real device. The result: unit tests that run in seconds, not minutes! In this session, I will demonstrate how to use Robolectric to bring back the fun in testing to Android. We will also take a a look under the hood to better understand how this works. Also, I will introduce you to FEST, a way to write your test assertions in a fluent manner.
