Every website needs a philosophy or strategy. Leaders in the web industry advocate simplicity, focus and usability. So do findings from user research. Users want a peace of mind when they try to complete tasks they have come to solve. Website owners nevertheless seem to add clutter and complexity all the time.
In my five minutes lightning talk I will stress the importance of having a sound web strategy to build and maintain a website that gives a good user experience.
I will use my own findings from studying comparative religion and 16 years in web management to support my case. I will show how we can use elements in Buddhism as a guide to implement a long lasting and meaningful web strategy that can greatly enhance user experience. Some of the elements that I will discuss are focus, simplicity, empathy, understanding and mindfulness.
