1:00pm to 5:00pm
Come and see how digital media can be analysed via usability testing. City Interaction Lab have a host of cutting edge technologies which can be used to evaluate how people interact with digital content including eye tracking, mobile testing, multitouch interaction and more!
Each tour will last 40 minutes
1) Eye Tracking
We own a Tobii T60 eye-tracker and are going to be running demonstrations on how eye tracking can be used in user research both commercially and academically.
2) Mobile Testing
A setup that we initially created for mobile research, the mobile testing station has been used by commercial agencies looking at how users are interacting with their mobile applications and websites. We will give you a chance to see how this set up works and the types of data which can be collected from it.
3) Accessibility Testing
Learn about the assistive technologies we use in the lab to evaluate the accessibility of websites and applications which we work with.
4) Creativity Pods
After three iterations, our creativity pods have been refined to help support and assist the creative process with the use of Nintendo Wii remotes, infrared, Mac mini’s and more! Come and see how we use this tool when running brainstorming sessions for both our teaching and commercial research projects.
5) Microsoft Surface
We will be showing off our Microsoft Surface, a multitouch table created by Microsoft and used by City University London to research and develop interactive applications on large touch-based devices.
7) Gesture Interaction
Learn how we are using devices such as the Microsoft Kinect to research into gesture-based interaction
6) Brain Interaction
A glipse into the future. Take a look at some of the latest technologies that we are researching within the area of brain-computer interaction.
