The University of Vermont unveiled a responsive “redesign” of its website early in 2013. Rather than simultaneously redesigning the look-and-feel or content of the web site, the goal of the project was to simply make the existing site function well across multiple resolutions and types of devices. This presentation will explore the process and uncover some of the unexpected difficulties in converting a university site revealing tips and techniques for the conversion process. We’ll look at the transformation and discuss the roadmap ahead for responsive design and higher education.
