Creating a Cohesive Website Experience from Scratch

A session at HighEdWeb New England

Monday 18th March, 2013

2:45pm to 2:55pm (EST)

How do you get over 30 department and center sites from a place of utter chaos and confusion to one of consistency and communication? The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers-Camden recruited me as their first full-time web designer last year to help bring a standardized look and message to their fragmented websites. This lightning talk will cover the transition period as well as what I think are important topics to consider when corralling websites into a more cohesive experience.

Rutgers-Camden Faculty of Arts and Sciences now uses WordPress as their sole content management system, and this lightning talk will also discuss what I found to be the pros and cons of this CMS, as well as the difficulties in change management as everyone settled into using WordPress.
