The Neverending Story: An Approach to Information Literacy

A session at MLA/DLA Annual Conference 2013

Thursday 9th May, 2013

2:00pm to 3:15pm (EST)

The focus of this presentation will be on designing and implementing information literacy assessment procedures, using examples from Loyola-Notre Dame Library (LNDL) and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). These procedures are applicable for one-shot or for-credit courses, and other instructional settings. Presenters will provide examples of assessment tools beyond the standard quizzes and questionnaires and will explore the three major categories of assessment instruments: objective tests, performance assessment, and authentic assessment. Examples will demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of each assessment type. Participants will have the opportunity to create assessments that measure specific objectives from their own information literacy programs.
