play.aadl.org: Inside AADL’s Breakthrough Summer Game

A session at MLA/DLA Annual Conference 2013

Friday 10th May, 2013

11:00am to 12:15pm (EST)

In 2011, Ann Arbor District Library reinvented their Summer Reading Game. By de-emphasizing reading, and emphasizing fun, participation and online engagement, AADL reached an engaged, all-ages audience full of new enthusiasm for their library that didn’t stop at the end of the summer…. and resulted in more reading – and writing – than ever before. Come find out how the game was developed, how players engage with the library and with each other, and how you can take steps in this direction at libraries of any size.
