OMN London - Lessons in lean marketing: A startup state of mind

Digital discussions and drinks on deck

17 January 2013 from 6:30pm to 11pm

Currently in read only mode, sorry about that, please try again in a few hours.

It seems like ages since we've had an OMN London event!

The topic of the next event on the 17th Jan 2013 will be around startups and how they market themselves online to ensure they stand out from the crowd.

From an online marketing perspective, startups are incredibly interesting. They have to be highly visible to gain the exposure required to get them on the radar of their customers, the media and potential investors. They need to build followings in social media to demonstrate hunger for their products, and they need to have strong brand narratives and content strategies to get the media coverage that they need to achieve their high growth targets.

The fact that a high percentage of successful startups come from tech backgrounds, with products based on proprietary software platforms, means that the highly iterative, project managed tech development ethos has merged with traditional marketing processes to create a 'lean' marketing model that’s based on a model of continual testing and improvement, and focused on user (customer) experience.

The ways that startups are achieving visibility are getting more and more creative. Just look at the lengths young Scottish company Morphsuits went to in promoting their innovative fancy dress costumes - a massive Power Ranger invasion of Zombie day in London!

No matter which brand we're working on there's a lot that we can learn about effective online marketing from the startup state of mind.

I'm talking with a number of great speakers heavily involved in the startup scene, so I'll let you know as and when they confirm.

As always we're open to sponsorship offers, so if promoting your brand to the cream of London's online marketing community is of interest then please contact me @gusquad for more details.

SO... have an amazing end to 2012 and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
